In 2004 Compton’s Yard ran a mentoring project which offered support and training for local artists wishing to pilot their work through publication, exhibition, workshop or performance.
The Cornerstones project gave people the chance to gain new skills, confidence and experience by working hands on with local artists to create five public art works in and around Llanidloes. These included mosaics and copper and willow sculptures.
Under the auspices of L.L.A.N.I. Ltd. CYT commissioned local artist to create designs for public artworks in Llanidloes. The designs were on display in a local exhibition at the Minerva Centre where local residents were able to choose which designs they would like to see realised. Three artworks are now coming into being.
In February and April 2008 Compton’s Yard held acrylic painting workshops, at a subsidised rate these were led by talented local artists Harriet Lane and Adriana Harris. These were well attended and highly successful. The paintings produced in the first workshop were exhibited in the Great Oak Café.
CYT has recently made use of a mentoring project through PAVO, to reassess the Trust Aims and Priorities and to develop a clear strategy to meet them.
